How do I sterilize stainless steel bottles?
The interior of the bottles are electro-polished for smoothness and ease of cleaning and sterilizing. Kiki bottles may be sterilized in variety of ways. You may use an electric sterilizer. (If using an electric sterilizer be sure to follow the manufacturer's sterilizing instructions.) Unpainted bottles and all other components can be boiled in water for 5-10 minutes to sterilize. When boiling be sure that none of the non-metal parts get stuck against the pot but are allowed to float freely. For cold water sterilizing use a non-toxic solution, such as Milton's, and follow the directions on the solution. Finally, you may set your dishwasher to the "hot", "sterilize" or "sanitize" setting. All bottles and parts are dishwasher-safe on the top rack.
- Never touch hot bottles with your bare hands
- Do not use microwave sterilizers for stainless steel parts
- Sterilize before first use and after each use, if desired
