Pura Stainless was conceived with a simple vision…to provide the safest and most adaptable juvenile feeding and adult hydration solutions to consumers around the world. But merely saying one offers “safe” bottles has become all too common.
With scant legislation, little to no regulation around chemicals in commerce, and undisclosed ingredients, it’s nearly impossible for consumers to ascertain whether or not a product may cause harm to their families.
Pura is happy that this conundrum of safe bottles (and other products) is finally being assessed in a quantitative manner by an independent third party (MadeSafe.org). We are elated to report that Pura products have been certified by MadeSafe as NONTOXIC, the only such bottles on the global market to achieve this status.
The NON-TOXIC CERTIFIED PROCESS
The NONTOXIC CERTIFIED process starts with a screening process called MADE SAFE, which examines ingredients and product materials for known carcinogens, endocrine disruptors, reproductive toxins, neurotoxins, behavioral toxins, flame retardants, heavy metals, pesticides, insecticides, herbicides, toxic solvents, harmful VOCs, or GMOs. This process also aims to close data gaps by screening each material and ingredient for persistence, bioaccumulation, and general and aquatic toxicity. Each and every ingredient has been scrutinized by a scientist. Once products have passed the ingredient screening, they go on to be lab tested to ensure that the product as a whole doesn’t cause harm to human health. This phase actually looks at how ingredients and components of a product interact with each other in mixture.
The NONTOXIC CERTIFIED seals solve the chemical conundrum that has vexed consumers for decades. Over 80,000 chemicals are currently in use in the US, and the majority are untested. Increasing studies are linking chemicals in everyday products to a wide range of serious health problems, from cancer, reproductive harm, and endocrine disruption, to learning disabilities, developmental problems, and infertility.
MADE SAFE™ and NONTOXIC CERTIFIED™, America’s first comprehensive human health certification to cross consumer product categories, is a nonprofit with the goal of making it possible for consumers to easily find safe products while also offering brands and retailers a road map to making and selling products that are made with safe ingredients. Founded by Amy Ziff with a mission to change the way products are made in America and around the world, the certification scrutinizes ingredients and ingredient mixtures to avoid using materials linked to known human health harm.
