Anyone who has had a typical reusable water bottle or baby bottle knows, they can be tricky to clean! Between tiny parts, narrow openings, and chipping paints or plastics, it’s not just a burden but sometimes even a hazard just trying to properly wash or sanitize them. But that’s not a problem with Pura Stainless. 

We are proud to have innovated some of the easiest water bottles to clean and simplest infant bottles to sanitize on the market. Plus, our bottles are 100% plastic-free, so you’ll never have to worry about microplastics shedding, paint chipping, or chemicals leaching ever again. 

But before you start scrubbing your Pura, check out our best cleaning tips to make sure your bottles are clean and well cared for!

#1: Wash often

Nobody wants a moldy bottle! That’s why we made it super simple to properly wash your Pura as often as you’d like. Simply sanitize it in boiling water for 5 minutes before your first use and clean and/or sanitize with each use after.

#2: Disassemble first

Before you wash your bottle, always disassemble it so soapy water can access every little nook. Of course, our bottles don't contain any small parts that can't be removed and cleaned like most on the market. All you have to do is unscrew the lid from the bottle and push out any silicone pieces – plus, it’s just as easy to reassemble! 

#3: Wash, your way

For the best results, we suggest using warm water, a mild detergent, and a bottle brush to scrub your Pura. Then, give it a good rinse until it’s clean and soap-free. Or, take the separated components (except the silicone sleeve!) and put them on the top rack of the dishwasher, instead!

#4: Sterilize, sterilize, sterilize

Using our infant bottles? No problem! Your Pura just needs to be sterilized. Separate the components, scrub it up, rinse well, then sanitize with one of these options: 

• Add the components to the top rack of your dishwasher and run on a sanitizing cycle

• Add the components to your electric sterilizer

• Boil the separated components for 5 minutes! 

#5: Deep clean

Accidentally forgot a dirty bottle in a backpack or in the car for a few days? If bottles develop a build up of bacteria, rust, or mold, sometimes a simple wash and scrub isn't sufficient. Here’s how to revive your bottle: 

• Step 1: Soak the dirty components in a mixture of even parts baking soda and vinegar and leave it overnight.

• Step 2: In the morning, wash the components well with warm water and soap to clean off any remaining residue.

• Optional Step 3: To be sure your bottle is squeaky clean, boil the separated pieces for 5 minutes to sterilize before use.

#6: Let it dry completely

Using your bottle immediately after washing can trap moisture and encourage mold growth. So, be sure to let all of your separated components dry completely before reassembling. This is even more important after washing or sterilizing infant bottles in order to protect little ones with developing immune systems.

#7: Care for your Pura

Pura products are resilient! But, like any great product, sometimes they might need a little extra love and attention. To properly care for your bottle follow these guidelines: 

• Don’t turn the nipples inside out!

• Avoid boiling the silicone sleeve to avoid damaging the printing

• After a while, silicone can pick up smells. Stop the stink with these helpful tips.
